Gemstone Buyer's Guide
Learn how to evaluate quality, understand the 4 C's, and make an informed investment in rare African gems.
Understanding the 4 C's
Whether you are purchasing Tanzanite, Diamonds, or Rubies, quality is universally graded using four main metrics.
1. Colour
The most important factor for colored gemstones. It is evaluated by Hue (the actual color), Tone (how light or dark it is), and Saturation (the intensity). Our top-grade gems boast vivid, deeply saturated hues.
2. Clarity
Clarity refers to the presence of internal inclusions. While diamonds require flawless clarity, many colored stones (like Emeralds) naturally feature inclusions. We select stones with excellent "eye-clean" transparency.
3. Cut
A master cut maximizes the stone's natural brilliance and fire. The angles must be precisely calculated to reflect light optimally, preventing "windowing" where light leaks through the center.
4. Carat
Carat is the standard unit of weight for gemstones (1 carat = 0.2 grams). As carat weight increases, the rarity and price per carat of the stone typically increases exponentially.
Certification & Trust
At Heavenly Wonders, authenticity is paramount. Every loose gemstone and jewelry piece we sell is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. We utilize globally recognized grading laboratories including the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and TGLS (Tanzanite Gemological Laboratory Services).
